Our Mission

Established nearly a century ago by selfless volunteers, the Colma Fire Protection District continues to honor its legacy through unwavering dedication to community safety. Our mission is to deliver seamless, professional fire and emergency medical services—24/7—to the Town of Colma, Broadmoor Village, Garden Village, and neighboring unincorporated areas of San Mateo County.

What sets us apart is our innovative paid-on-call staffing model. Our team of 36 fully trained, certified firefighters and paramedics remain on heightened readiness at all times—protecting our community from varied emergencies, whether fires, medical crises, or technical rescues. While our staffing structure differs from traditional full-time departments, our rapid response consistently meets or surpasses industry standards.

The Fire Commission, entrusted by the community, ensures transparent leadership and effective policy-making. They guide our strategic planning, adopt forward-thinking budgets, and embody the community's trust in every decision.
